Owls

For many people owls are a favourite bird even though they are often heard rather than seen because of their predominantly crepuscular and nocturnal life styles. Photographing them is difficult because of low light levels or complete darkness and flash is usually necessary.

These photographs are mainly of tawny owls. This is because they eventually discovered a gate I set up in a clearing in the middle of a wood and use it as a vantage point. It took three months before I was able to capture the first acceptable photograph. I'm hoping to add more barn and little owl photographs in the future, as well as some of our other species but this will take time.
